The SNP selected candidate for East Lothians Constituency has moved to silence his online critics by censoring his blog domain entitled "Justified Spinner". Could this mean the triumph of SNP mediocrity over Unionist meritocracy?
It appears that SNP candidate Andrew Sharp (pictured below) has moved to silence the online activist 'Scottish Unionist' following his corrections of Mr Sharps published errors. The story is perhaps a frightening insight into what life could be like under Nationalist Scotland.
And this is not the first time Mr Sharp has censored any critic who corrects factual inaccuracies which he perpetuates as evidential fact. In August 2008 he previously censored another online blog activist for the same 'crime' as Scottish Unionist- it appears that no one is permitted to show-up this SNP Westminster hopeful.
The August censorship is a story fully worth hearing too; it is a unique insight into the hardliner edge to the SNP pursuit for separatism. And it all relates to that black gold which the SNP economic arguments so relies upon...
Mr Sharp back in August '08 published an article on his aforementioned blog criticising a research paper by the Centre for Public Policy for Regions, among other things on the basis that he suspected a “political agenda”. However my erstwhile collegue posted a short reply, pointing out that the CPPR’s figures were derived from works which had received at least a tacit SNP stamp of approval. He then noticed a further factual inaccuracy in Sharps post, and so quickly replied again, setting the record straight on that as well. Back came a very long rebuttal (67 lines long) which turned into a muddled rant, and which ended:
"it’s been fun, but please try to keep your points short rather than trying to clog up my blog.If you seek to adopt the 'snowing' approach that you have used on the 'Scotsman' discussion groups, then, with regret, you'll be blocked.I've got no problem with debate (ask Iain Gray), but I have other priorities in life as well.
No offence taken, i hope."
Although somewhat taken aback by this peculiar reply, the commentor resolved to ignore it and reply only to a small selection of his further inaccuracies. But by that time he had already banned him.
It is clear therefore that nothing ought to come between the SNP and their goal of independence; especially nothing as trivial as economic realities. But why Mr Sharps heavy handed responce to friendly corrections of factual inacurracies? The report Mr Sharp and the SNP were trying to denegrade and discredit is actually an economic criticism of SNP oil fund proposals (you knowthe one Alex Salmond goes on about, the one thay would finance his Independent Scotland)...it appears that this episode proves that when it comes to SNP candidates nothing is ever quite what it seems.
